I like it when you’re human
When your guard’s down you come out to play
And for those precious few moments
When you finally let yourself breatheI can see you for who you are
I like seeing the tears in your eyes
Your hair messy when you wake in the morning
A blush for your every ignorance
I’ll use my kisses to trace your imperfections
So you can see who you really areLet fall the armor you wear
That burden you bear
I beg you to give me your heart
Beating, raw and vulnerable
And I will show you how to use it
What it’s like to live
Sorrow that only death can relieve
And happiness worth sticking around for
"We don't read and write poetry because it's cute. We read and write poetry because we are members of the human race. And the human race is filled with passion. And medicine, law, business, engineering, these are noble pursuits and necessary to sustain life. But poetry, beauty, romance, love, these are what we stay alive for."

I Like You Human

Forgotten
The memories I so cherish are slipping away
Leaving me with a creeping fear I can't allay
The fear of becoming just another distant memory
A flickering image of what I used to be
Trapped between your dusty photos and old tales.
Whatever thought you had of me pales
Threatening to creep into the closet of your mind
Into the corners of your brain's forgotten design
Before it shrivels and disappears.
